About us

Mission
  1. Advancing the cause of Universal Neonatal Hearing Screening (EHDI) across the globe.
  2. Identifying countries and building infrastructure and expertise there.
  3. Identifying countries that need more audiologists and getting training to them.
  4. Developing Fellowships, hopefully sponsored, for promising ear surgeons, in developing countries.
  5. Developing virtual multidisciplinary networks where potential CI patients can be discussed, with experienced CI surgeons and Audiologists supporting the less experienced.
  6. Developing closer understanding with the CI and Hearing Aid manufacturers, so that we can persuade them of the business possibilities/sense of:
    1. Providing more affordable CIs and Hearing Aids
    2. Funding EHDI
    3. Building audiology access in countries where it is lacking, and thus increasing their market
    4. Keeping costs of attending the meetings down – perhaps by getting sponsorships for the less wealthy.
Vision
Global Cochlear Implant Access Network works in Emerging Nations, improving the awareness and reality of hearing health and otological implants in developing regions of our planet. These countries mean representing more than 60% of the world population, which makes it potentially the most important global organization regarding hearing loss and its solutions.  WHO reports says that we are in front of a global Hearing Loss pandemic in the next years. Therefore, it is necessary to remember that GCIAN (Global Cochlear Implant Access Network) is the organization that brings together the most populous countries and regions on the planet, and where health in general and hearing health in particular means an enormous challenge, precisely because they are nations in process of development. Therefore, the member countries (emerging nations from Africa, Latin America, most countries of Asia, Middle east, Arabic countries and East of Europe) are commitment to reach the mission of GCIAN.
